The Rashtriya Indian Military School is the best boarding school in Dehradun. The original name of this school was Prince of Wales Royal Indian Military College. This is a feeder institution for the National Defence Academy and subsequently the Indian Armed Forces. The RIMC was founded in 1922 by the British Empire to train native Indian cadets for entry into the Royal Military Academy, students then trained as officers of the British Indian Army. This boarding school has a library named after the legendary old boy, Major Somnath Sharma.
RIMC follows old tradition but does not lag in this age of information. Two cutting-edge labs, outfitted with the latest hardware and software, provide extensive opportunities for acquiring and honing computer skills. Additionally, the newly established, state-of-the-art Learning Resource Centre enhances the available facilities for IT and the library. This school has 19 equines with well-trained instructors.
